Tour de Banco, vol. 2

Well what happened to the bank account that I was trying  with such difficulty to open? Well, not much, besides a lot of emails announcing that the account was in progress to later announcing that I – in the most difficult way – had to send them the documentation that I actually already had sent them. So in the end, I gave up … on that bank, not the account.

Fourth try – new Bank!

So one morning, I’m in a new bank. The bank had been recommended to me by a Facebook group, and by luck there is a branch right here nearby in my barrio. So I decided to give it a try, it couldn´t be nearly as complicated as the last bank!

So I’m in line, and they are taking their time. They talk to the customers coming in, pay them attention, and the atmosphere is both local and friendly. When its my turn, it turns out that the man in charge of opening the accounts has just gone for lunch. But the sweet banker gets a copy of my passport and all my details, and then I can drop by tomorrow and they will have it all ready. And this is done meanwhile we talk about his holiday in Denmark in december las year. So easy, so friendly and effortless can it be. I have a good feeling as I leave.

Finally – I have an account!

The next morning, I pass by the bank and are greeted with smiles, they recognize me and have the papers prepared. Everything is ready, I just have to write a lot of information – that’s the law, he says, they have to inform about everything.

It takes a almost an hour, but mostly because there is plenty of time. We speak about Norway, Denmark and Vikings, while they explain everything to me in Spanish, including mobile banking and the Spanish version of the Danish: “MobilePay”. They are clearly used to foreign customers and praise my Spanish. And then suddenly, I have a bank account! Without any hassle, and they are local, so I can easily pass by if I have questions or problems with account, mobile or etc.

A few days later, I have mobile banking installed, received my card and made my first transfer from DK. It does not have to be so difficult.
